Rembrandt 400
| In 2006 it will be 400 years ago that Rembrandt van Rijn was born in Leiden. An entire year there will be festivities in the city to honour the young Rembrandt. Throughout the year Leiden will be presenting unique Rembrandt activities. |
A specially formed projectteam Rembrandt 400 will not only host exhibitions, but numerous events to bring a special Rembrandt atmosphere into the heart of the historical city of Leiden. A special sightseeing route to the birthhouse, Latin school en first atelier of Rembrandt is organised from a specially decorated hall. To celebrate Rembrandt's birthday a three-days festival is organised from 15 July 2006. |
Not only the city of Leiden pays attention to this extraordinary year of Rembrandt. The entire year 2006 has been declared the national Rembrandt year.
Different museums in Amsterdam will also offer unique exhibitions in 2006. |
